Former Australian captain Bill
Lawry in sports.news.com.au |
|
On
Australia's winning chances
Lawry said "I think Australia will win comfortably but I don't think they
will win 3-0. "This is a very good Australian side. They'll win anywhere.
It's a shame it's not a five-Test series." |
|
On
India's chances
"The problem for India will be they won't bowl Australia out twice. I can't
see India winning a Test match but on their pitches I can see them possibly
drawing one or two. This Indian side is one of the best batting Indian sides
we have seen for a long time but without (champion leg-spinner) Anil Kumble
they will struggle. They haven't got a Prasanna or a Bedi." |
|
On
Kasprowicz's selection
"You need strong characters on a tour to India. What we are looking for
in the Australian side is a strong unit with guys who are tough and resilient." |
|
Steve
Waugh on Indian conditions |
|
"It's
more important how we act as a team over there and enjoy the country and
the culture rather than complaining about it as some teams have in the past.
- Australian captain on Indian conditions. |
|
Hirwani
on his recall |
|
"I
may be 32 but I feel like 23," he grinned. "I believe I can deliver if asked
to prove myself." |
|
Sairaj
Bahutule |
|
"This
is the best piece of news I have got for a long time now. But I do not
want to put pressure on myself by thinking that I will play in the first
Test at Mumbai from February 27." - The Mumbai leg spinner on his inclusion
in the Indian probables list.
|
|
Chandu
Borde |
|
"None
of the spinners are giving air to the ball and are bowling very flat." -
Selection committee chairman Chandu Borde on Indian spinners. |
|
Venkat
on Indian spinners |
|
"I
am not happy with the way our spinners are bowling. They are not willing
to maintain a rhythm and bowl each ball differently. Our spinners were unable
to turn the ball as much as Sachin Tendulkar did at the nets." - during
the Chennai camp. |
