Arnold (seen in pic) was the more restrained of the duo. It was consequently Jayawardene who began the Lankan assault as the slog overs approached. Increasing him tempo after scoring his 15th ODI fifty, the classy Sri Lankan middle-order bat went on to make 77 off 99 balls, including six fours, before falling with his team’s score on 189-5 in the 46th over. Arnold (56* off 101 balls) later gathered some useful runs with Chaminda Vaas (17 off 12 balls) as the home team reached 222-7 in their 50 overs.
