In the morning, the West Indies skipper Carl Hooper won the toss and had no hesitation in electing to bat. Chris Gayle set the early pace, smashing the Kenyan bowling around during a whirlwind 33 off 42 balls which included two consecutive sixes off Martin Suji. His opening partner, Shivnarine Chanderpaul (seen in pic) struggled at the other end but battled on to make 43 runs.
