Astle, who had a few lucky breaks, made the most of them,
notching up a well-constructed, unbeaten ton. His 102 not out was
his second century in World Cups and his 13th overall, which now
puts him at eighth in the list of top ODI century-makers. During
the course of the innings, Astle, who began his first-class
career as a dibbly dobbly bowler and No 10 batsman, also became
the first New Zealander to score 5,500 ODI runs. Truly, he had
every reason to holler in joy.
