Off Cutter:
[ Demonstration of the grip for an off cutter ]
-
The Off cutter is bowled with an action similar to the outswinger and is used as a
variation.
-
The seam is angled towards the slips and the index finger is on the left side of the
seam and the middle finger is on the right side of the ball with the thumb opposite to it.
-
As the ball is bowled the middle finger is pulled down with the wrist rotating in a clockwise
direction. It can also be bowled with an off break grip but this is easily detected by the
batsman. The line of attack should be on or about the off stump.
Leg Cutter:
[ Demonstration of the grip for a leg cutter ]
-
The action for a leg cutter is similar to that for an in swing. The seam is angled
towards fine leg and the middle finger is placed on the right side of the seam with the index
finger on the left side of the ball.
-
As the ball is bowled, the index finger pulls the ball
with the wrists turning anti clockwise. The line of attack must be middle stump or off stump.
