VVS Laxman has fond memories of the Eden Gardens, his last innings here producing a staggering 281. Today too he seemed in good touch, flicking the ball away to all parts of the ground with trademark wristy panache. His partnership with Bangar was an attacking one, taking the challenge right back to the West Indian bowlers just when they seemed on top. Laxman made 48 off 86 balls before falling just before the close of play.

What was the turning point of the first day of the third Test?
Dravid's unfortunate dismissal
The Laxman-Bangar partnership
Tendulkar's dismissal
