(Colombo 1st ODI - 18 Jul 2001)
Chris Harris with his innocuous dibbly-dobbly kind of slow leg breaks had
the Sri Lankan batsmen guessing. He too finished with the figures of
10-0-42-2, which included the wickets of Jayawardene and Arnold in the
middle of the innings. Sri Lanka lost momentum completely and never
recovered. They were all out for 220 in 48.5 overs. Extras with 29 was the
next major contributor after Jayasuriya's 80. A dozen no balls and nine
wides ensured that the Kiwis were a bit slow on over rate. Sri Lanka was
bowled out in 213 minutes, three minutes more than the stipulated time.
Match referee Cammie Smith penalised the New Zealanders one over.
