What ever happened to Dan Peacock and Ian Engelbrecht? Am I the only one who realizes that not selecting them does not do their potential talents any justice?

Where is the once promising Guy Whittall? We need him in that all-rounder’s role. The problem with Andy Blignaut is that he's trying to assume the role of a pinch hitter yet his natural talent is good enough. Zimbabwe is not a lost cause - we have to be strong.

Reply: Dan and Ian have unfortunately both emigrated and so are no longer part of Zimbabwe cricket. Guy Whittall was back in the team in Sri Lanka.

Surprised! But then the scorecard showed exactly this. To watch Andy Flower keeping wicket for Walsh, Akram, Murli and Bond is a satisfying sight indeed. To add to it his sixes and eights were absolutely awesome. The current series between Britain and Rest of World at Cardiff is a truly enjoyable one and even Andy Flower admits it. Such fixtures are not solitary one.

In the mid-nineties a match was played between Pakistan and MCC at Shenley. Chasing Pakistan’s 200-plus, Andy Flower was the only player to reach double figures as MCC tumbled into deep trouble before rain halted their misery. Flower was retired hurt and Pakistan won on a higher rate.

Before this in the early nineties Zimbabwe made it two wins out of two at Scarborough when they overhauled the President’s World XI. Both teams scored exactly 256 but Zim scored faster in first 15 overs, thanks to centuries from skipper A. Flower (101)and Campbell (102) and hence were rewarded by a win.

Indeed we love these flowery x-traa innings.

Are Des Evans, Denis Streak and Andy Pycroft still involved in Zimbabwe cricket administratively? If they are, in what way exactly? However if they have been sacked may I ask for a reason in writing for having done so? Last but not least, were you a cricketer in your heyday?

Reply: Des Evans has emigrated to Canada. Denis Streak is still involved in a minor way with Matabeleland cricket only, while Andy Pycroft is no longer in administration as he works as a television commentator - although presumably he is still available for coaching when required. As for myself, I used to play club cricket in Bulawayo and Harare - nothing more, unfortunately!
