Every punter loves a dark horse in a race. In the race for the position of
wicketkeeper of the Indian team, Deep Dasgupta is undoubtedly the latest
dark horse! The Bengal stumper has been summoned to the training camp as
part of the 25 probables and will look to impress the captain and
selectors. Beginning his first class career as a batsman, Deep Dasgupta
struck a century in the very first match he played, against Baroda in the
1998-99 Ranji Super League. Since then, Dasgupta has donned the gloves for
Bengal, taking over from Saba Karim. Although unlikely that he will be
picked to tour Zimbabwe, the experience at the training camp will hold
Dasgupta in good stead.
