The man who was chosen to replace the recuperating Laxman was Hemang Badani. The Tamil Nadu left-hander too pulled out of the tour after a scan revealed that he had a stress fracture in the back. Badani had sustained the injury while fielding in the Moin-Ud Dowlah tournament played in Hyderabad recently. Badani was initially dropped from the squad due to poor form in the recent tours of Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. Injury has denied this young player a second chance to redeem himself.
