Reetinder Sodhi first hit the headlines as captain of the India
Under-15 side which won the world title back in 1996, and later
played a key role in another World Cup triumph - with the India Under-19
team at Colombo last year. The young man shows tremendous fighting spirit on
the field, his fielding often matching world standards, and his batting
is positive and composed under pressure, as at Bulawayo recently, when he
partnered Samir Dighe in a dream rearguard stand. His bowling,
however, lacks fire, tending towards military medium pace. An area
for the youngster to work on.
