Darren Gough Hat Trick Darren Gough Hat Trick

Saturday 2nd January 1999 - Sydney Cricket Ground

Day 3, 5th Ashes Test Match At the end of another day of toil in the field for England - Barmy Army hero Darren Gough was about to produce on of those majestic sporting moments that all who were fortunate enough to witness would never forget -

Ball 1 - Wicket 1

Ian Healy c. Warren Hegg b. Darren Gough

Ball rears off a length and brushes the gloves of Ian Healy on the way through to Warren Hegg

Ball 2 - Wicket 2

Stuart McGill b. Darren Gough

The man the Barmy Army love to hate - Stuart McGill clean bowled by a trademark Darren Gough in-swinging yorker - does it get any better than that…..

Ball 3 - Wicket 3

Colin Millar b. Darren Gough

Darren Gough roared on by the Barmy Army produces another yorker that moved away at the last moment to beat Colin Millar all ends up

Darren Gough had just become the first Englishman to take an Ashes Hat Trick since JT Hearne at Leeds in 1899 and the thousands of Barmy Army supporters present were certainly prepared to enjoy the moment.

Leading cricket photographer Patrick Eagar was the only photographer to perfectly capture each wicket as it fell. Sport Photo Gallery has teamed up with the Barmy Army to offer photographic prints of this magnificent moment.

The photographs are available from Sport Photo Gallery framed and unframed in a range of sizes together with a series of signed photographs of Darren - simply visit their website at:
