VVS Laxman, who replaced him, preferred to favour caution over raw aggression and consequently the tempo slackened a bit. Sehwag, though, ensured that the run-rate continued to be healthy, peppering the boundaries with regularity. Sehwag brought up his fifty in the 11th over and the Indian 100 was also up five overs later. But soon South Africa were to land a double whammy. Donald after stifling Laxman for a few overs went on to dismiss him for 22. Sehwag, too followed soon after, falling to Kallis after he had made 59 off 58 balls with 10 fours. India had slipped from a cosy 102-1 to 108-3 in the space off just 10 balls.
