†NEW ZEALAND v PAKISTAN 2000-01
Wisden CricInfo staff - September 11, 2002

At Napier, February 20 (day/night). New Zealand won by six wickets. Toss: New Zealand.
The tables were turned from the moment that Saeed Anwar – like Parore two days earlier – was bowled by the match's first ball. Pakistan just lasted 50 overs, but 135 was their lowest completed one-day total against New Zealand, who beat it with nearly 20 overs in hand. Tuffey won the match award for a career-best four for 24, seizing the opportunity offered by Chris Cairns's injury. But just as important was Harris, whose figures of 10–2–12–1 reveal the respect with which the Pakistanis treated his tantalising slow-medium swing bowling; they equalled the fourth most economical performance for New Zealand at this level. Shahid Afridi provided him with his 159th wicket in one-day internationals, overtaking Richard Hadlee's New Zealand record (Hadlee played 115 games to Harris's 175). Once Shoaib Akhtar hobbled off after conceding 16 in 11 deliveries – including two no-balls – the Kiwis never looked back. Man of the Match: D. R. Tuffey.
