NEW ZEALAND v PAKISTAN 2000-01
Wisden CricInfo staff - September 11, 2002

At Kallang Ground, Singapore, August 20. Pakistan won by 12 runs. Toss: New Zealand.
New Zealand lost this rain-truncated encounter, but not before making Pakistan sweat on a pleasant tropical afternoon. Invited to bat, the Pakistanis engaged in frantic hitting, reaching 76 by the 11th over – but losing three wickets. The steady Yousuf Youhana and flamboyant Ijaz Ahmed then provided rigour to their assault, adding 89 in a sparkling 12-over stand. Ijaz, in his first international since March, hit a whirlwind 49 in 37 balls, with five fours and a six. New Zealand started their run-chase boldly. All-rounder Cairns, promoted to open, struck two sixes and a four in a brief onslaught lasting 16 balls. But his team-mates could not sustain the pace, and although Harris plundered 40 runs off 30 balls, it was in a losing cause. Man of the Match: Ijaz Ahmed.
