Streak sidelined for 12 weeks Wisden CricInfo staff - September 27, 2002
Zimbabwe's captain Heath Streak will be sidelined for at least 12 weeks after dislocating his shoulder in an accident in Colombo on Monday. Streak was a passenger in a tuk-tuk (a three-wheeler taxi) when it overturned after swerving to avoid a collision with a van. He was detained in hospital overnight.
"Heath's immediate target is a return to the side for the series against Kenya in December and to be completely fit for the ICC World Cup early next year," team manager Babu Meman told the BBC.
Zimbabwe's immediate problem is to find a captain to lead them in home series against Pakistan which starts on 9 November and features two Tests and five one-day internationals.
That might not be as easy at it sounds. Zimbabwe's captaincy has changed hands with increasing frequency over the last year – Streak was reappointed to the job last month after having resigned less than a year earlier. Other former captains who might be prepared to step-in include Alistair Campbell, Andy Flower and Streak's predecessor, Stuart Carlisle.
