A bright new dawn?
Wisden CricInfo staff - September 26, 2002

West Indies have a tough tour of India in prospect next month, and on current form, they are very much the underdogs. Wisden.com asked some big names in West Indian cricket why it all went wrong, and how their cricket can return to the dominance of the 1970s and 80s. Alvin Kallicharran, Carl Hooper, Desmond Haynes and journalist Keith Holder all had their say. Kallicharran lamented the fact that, with the talk now concentrating around next year's World Cup, no-one mentions West Indies as possible winners. Hooper felt that inexperience was the underlying problem, while Haynes had a go at the board for not inviting more ex-players such as himself and Gordon Greenidge to coach the current players. There was, at least, some optimism from Holder, who predicted that West Indian cricket still had a bright future.
