A question of balance
Wisden CricInfo staff - September 23, 2002

Wisden Online caught up with Shaun Pollock and he gave a few insights into South Africa's selection and preparation for the World Cup, opposition players, his best bowling performance and his famous cricketing pedigree. On next year's World Cup, Pollock highlighted South Africa's obvious advantage as the host nation but also stressed the effort which has gone in to their preparation, including giving the young players experience as well as making sure the older, more seasoned pros, such as Allan Donald and Jonty Rhodes, are ready and prepared.

So which batsmen will he have to look out for? All the usual suspects really - Lara, Tendulkar, Gilchrist etc, but in today's cricket, he explained that "any wicket is a scalp, although getting a key batter is a lot more rewarding than a tailender".

Pollock then talked about his best Test bowling performance and how he didn't really have much choice but to go into cricket and as well as his family, how Malcolm Marshall made a big impact in his career.
