No change for India
Wisden CricInfo staff - September 2, 2002

India are set to name an unchanged side for the fourth and final Test at The Oval which starts on Thursday. John Wright, India's coach, told the BBC that the intention was to field the same side which beat England by an innings and 46 runs at Leeds. "I think you'll find that our combinations will be pretty similar to Headingley," he said. "We may look at one or two things but we seemed to get the formula right there.

"It was a pretty good team performance and we caught well. We took some good catches at some critical times particularly in the second innings."

Wright admitted that after losing the first Test at Lord's he was happy to be going into the final Test all square, although he looked to play down suggestions that India go into the match as favourites: "We're quite happy to be in the situation we're in, but there are always labels bandied around and I think the two sides are pretty evenly matched."

And Wright said that he was still concerned about the state of the Oval pitch. "The wicket's still got a little bit of moisture in it but there's still two days to go. I'd like to think that we'll start with a pretty dry wicket which makes for good viewing for the public."
