Nottinghamshire renew contracts for five players Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club - 18 September 2002
Nottinghamshire today gave a vote of confidence to four of their most-promising bowling prospects by offering them fresh deals at Trent Bridge. It was decision time for five players in all, whose contracts are due to expire but Cricket Manager Mick Newell says all have been offered new terms. Those involved are off-spinners Stephen Randall and Paul McMahon, talented pace duo Nadeem Malik and David Lucas plus experienced reserve wicketkeeper Wayne Noon, who has already agreed to take over the Second XI captaincy in his Benefit Season. The only player to leave the squad will be Paul Johnson, who announced his retirement from the game last week to take up a new role as full-time Club coach. Cricket Manager Mick Newell said: ³We¹re very happy with the squad we have here at the moment so we are not looking to let anyone go. ³Some players have made a major impact this season and we continue to look for improvements across the board but especially from our youngsters. ³Our hope is that they continue to push for places so we are forced to give them the chance to show us what they can do in the first team.² © Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club
