Essex County Cricket Club go into two of the most important games of the season so far this week, taking on Frizzell County Championship Division 2 leaders Middlesex between Wednesday and Saturday, followed by Surrey Lions in the NUL on Sunday. Essex are currently second behind Middlesex in the Championship, with a host of other counties just a few points behind. The Essex Eagles are third behind Surrey Lions in the NUL, although victory on Sunday for the Eagles would reclaim second place and keep them in the running for an outside chance of promotion as Champions.

Essex County Cricket Club remind their Members and followers that September sees the commencement of the early starts, with Frizzell County Championship matches now commencing at 10.30 a.m. and the Norwich Union League match against Surrey Lions commencing at 12.00 noon.
