West Indian ODI squad announced

Ricardo Powell, the 23-year old hard-hitting batsman, is one of three replacements that the West Indian cricket board has announced for the seven-match ODI series against India next month. Vasbert Drakes, an allrounder, and Corey Collymore, the medium-pacer, will replace Gareth Breese, Darren Powell and Jermaine Lawson from the current Test squad.

Powell last played in the final of the tri-nation LG Abans Series in Sri Lanka in 2001.

Drakes made a comeback to the West Indian team after seven years when he played in the ICC Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka last month. He had been playing first-class cricket for Border in South Africa.
