No change Wisden CricInfo staff - October 1, 2002
Cricket may well be a batsman's game, but here at Wisden.com we believe that the sterling work of all those No. 11s is rarely given the attention it deserves. With this in mind, we are proud to present Battleof the Bunnies, a year-long search for a team of the greatest rabbits – or worst batsmen, if you really must – currently playing Test cricket. The rules are simple: statistical incompetence alone will decide places in the side, and each month an updated World Bunny XI will be published here. Catherine Hanley has a hotline to the selectors ... Tuesday, October 1, 2002 Along with most of the rest of the world's cricket-watching population, the selectors have been busy this month watching the ICC Champions Trophy, so they haven't had much time to consider the candidates for the Bunny Test XI. However, they are gearing themselves up for a tough couple of Months, chock-full of matches involving nine of the ten Test- playing nations, so rabbits the world over will have plenty of opportunity to show off their skills. With this in mind, the selectors have decided to make the competiton slightly harder: from now on, potential bunnies must have completed at least four Test innings before they can be considered for the team. Consistency is the key here: one or two lucky innings will no longer be enough. This change of selectorial policy will do something nobody else has been able to do: knock Chris Martin off the top of the team-sheet, at least until he gets the opportunity to play in another Test. Who will replace him next month?
The Bunny XI (as at 1/10/02)
