Australia v Pakistan 2001
Wisden CricInfo staff - October 18, 2002

At Nottingham, June 19 (day/night). Pakistan won by 36 runs. Toss: Pakistan.
Increased security in the aftermath of Edgbaston and Headingley did not prevent further trouble; when a firework exploded near Lee, Australian captain Waugh led his side off the field for 20 minutes. The incident inevitably detracted from another superlative display from Waqar Younis, who followed his seven wickets against England with a further six to provide the inspiration for Australia's only defeat of the series. He removed three early wickets in a line-up without three rested players before Gilchrist put his side back in contention with a hard-hitting 70 (44 balls, one six, 12 fours). Waugh weighed in with a typically determined half-century, but Waqar's two wickets in six balls, after returning to the attack in the 32nd over, effectively decided the outcome. Earlier, Salim Elahi had taken his chance as opener to hit 79 from 91 balls and set Pakistan on their way to a mammoth total.
Man of the Match: Waqar Younis.
