South Africa v Sri Lanka 2000-01
Wisden CricInfo staff - October 18, 2002

At Johannesburg, January 17 (day/night). Sri Lanka won by four runs (D/L method). Toss: South Africa.
Chasing a South African record of 11 straight victories, Pollock held his destiny in his own hands: he had to hit the last two balls of the match for six to capture a slice of history. He managed one, straight back over the bowler's head, but Jayasuriya fired the final delivery into the blockhole to end Sri Lanka's miserable losing sequence with a four-run victory. Earlier, Arnold's audacious 65 from 56 balls had boosted the tourists' total from 85 for four to 214 for six. Rain cut South Africa's target to 209 from 42 overs; they seemed well on their way until an over-confident stroke from Boje triggered a collapse.
Man of the Match: R. P. Arnold. Man of the Series: J. H. Kallis.
