South Africa v Sri Lanka 2000-01
Wisden CricInfo staff - October 18, 2002

At Port Elizabeth, December 15 (day/night). South Africa won by four wickets. Toss: Sri Lanka.
Kaluwitharana dominated the early scoring with a bullish 55, as Sri Lanka's top order wobbled until Sangakkara joined him. Sangakkara's skilfully paced 84, including his fifty partnership with Vaas, helped the visitors recover to a competitive 221 on a tricky pitch for strokeplayers. The contest looked to be shaping well when South Africa were scrambling to 91 for four in 19 overs; in effect, there was little more excitement after that as Kirsten shored up one end while Rhodes chased runs. Two further wickets shifted the balance slightly back towards Sri Lanka, but an unbroken stand of 80 between Rhodes and Klusener, marked by splendid running between the wickets, ensured a comfortable win.
Man of the Match: J. N. Rhodes.
