Zimbabwe v New Zealand, 2000-01
Wisden CricInfo staff - October 9, 2002
At Harare, September 27. New Zealand won by seven wickets. Toss: New Zealand. International debut: G. P. Sulzberger. Campbell and Wishart got Zimbabwe off to a promising start, but the loss of both to O'Connor in the ninth over put the shackles on the innings. Though Carlisle and Andy Flower shared a fifty partnership, the New Zealanders, as in the recent Test, strained the batsmen's patience with accurate bowling supported by attacking fielding. Only Paul Strang, at the end, scored at a useful rate. In reply, the tourists' batsmen could afford to take their time. Spearman hit three sixes and six fours in his 86, Twose eight fours in his unbeaten 70, as they added 152 in 30 overs. It was all very efficient.
Man of the Match: N. J. Astle.
