Lions roar into final Israel Cricket Association - 6 October 2002
Lions Lod secured their place in the 2002 League Final with a comprehensive 8-wicket win over Be'er Sheva in the first semi-final played at Hadar Yosef on Saturday. Be'er Sheva, batting first, never game to terms with the Flicx Pitch, on which they played for the first time. The surface is notably quicker than the matting wickets that were used for most of the season, and the Lod quick bowlers certainly enjoyed the extra pace and bounce provided. Only Omer Pingler with 21* provided any resistance for Be'er Sheva, as the Massil brothers proved too hot to handle. David was the pick, finishing with 4 for 21, with Isaac taking 3 for 22, as Be'er Sheva tumbled to 82 all out. Lod made light work of knocking off the required runs, and although they lost Yefet Nagavkar (20) and Isaac Massil (14) along the way, Mahendra Jaiswar with 19* ensured the victory was never in doubt. Lod now await the winners of the second semi-final between Netanya and Tel Aviv which will be played on Friday October 18th. © Israel Cricket Association
