Jermaine Lawson flown in
Wisden CricInfo staff - November 19, 2002

Ryan Hinds was ruled out of the rest of the one-day series after damaging ligaments in his right knee. Ricky Skeritt, the West Indian team manager, confirmed that Hinds would return home early, while Jermaine Lawson would be flown in as his replacement for the last two matches. The forced change should strengthen the West Indian squad. Hinds didn't look the part in the couple of Tests he played, while Lawson impressed with his pace and hostility in the Test series, and might just add some bite to a bowling attack which has been toothless in the ODI series.

Skeritt stated that West Indies had other injury concerns as well. Marlon Samuels overcame an ankle sprain to play at Vadodara, while Carl Hooper skipped the third match due to a recurring knee problem. He carried the injury into the next two matches as well, and has confirmed that he will miss the upcoming series in Bangladesh to undergo surgery in Australia.

The series has taken its toll on the seamers too. Merv Dillon missed the last match with a strained back, while Pedro Collins (back injury) and Cameron Cuffy (strained hamstring) have both been rested from a couple of games.
