Hooper pulls out of Bangladesh series Wisden CricInfo staff - November 15, 2002
Carl Hooper will not be part of the West Indies team that tours Bangladesh later this year. Team officials announced that Hooper was being rested so that his knee injury, sustained at the start of the ongoing series in India, has time to heal before the World Cup. However, Hooper was scheduled to play in all the remaining one-dayers against India. "Although the injury has caused Hooper discomfort and concern," said Ricky Skeritt, the manager, "it has been successfully managed so far on tour." Skeritt continued: "Hooper has now decided to undergo the required corrective surgery at the end of November so that he will be fully recovered by the start of our pre-World Cup camp in January. I've assured Hooper of the full support of the West Indies Cricket Board and told him that we all look forward to his complete recovery and return to the team." A new West Indian captain for the tour to Bangladesh, which starts on November 26, will be named next week when the selectors meet to pick the squad.
