Sachin misses one-dayers
Wisden CricInfo staff - November 3, 2002

Sachin Tendulkar has strained a hamstring muscle and will miss the entire one-day series against West Indies which starts on November 6. Tendulkar carried a niggle into the last day's play at Kolkata, and aggravated it in the course of his innings of 176. Jagmohan Dalmiya, president of the Indian cricket board, said: "According to Andrew Leipus [the team physio], the hamstring-strain injury is not too serious. But rest is needed to prevent further damage and rehabilitate the muscle so that he is free of pain. Sachin has therefore been advised rest for the next three weeks."

Dinesh Mongia was named as his replacement in the one-day squad.
