Washout
Wisden CricInfo staff - May 25, 2002

Heavy showers over the last two days ensured that the first one-day international between West Indies and India was a non-starter. The umpires called off play about half an hour before the match was scheduled to begin. Though the rains had eased off to a drizzle this morning, there were still pools of water on the outfield. Both umpires confirmed that the pitch was bone dry, but the worrying area was the square around the pitch. Eddie Nichols stated that the ground would need sunlight for most of today to allow play to start on time tomorrow, but with more showers forecast over the next 24 hours, a shortened game seemed the best one could hope for on Sunday.
