Ramnaresh Sarwan, after failing to covert yet another fifty into a big score, said that he was not worried about missing out on a century again in the third Test against India at the Kensington Oval. Sarwan scored an attractive 60 as the West Indies reached 314 for 4 at stumps on the second day in reply to India's 102. Shivnarine Chanderpaul was unbeaten on 75 and skipper Carl Hooper on 70 as the hosts gained a lead of 212 with six wickets in hand.

Sarwan has so far slammed 11 half-centuries in 20 Tests, but is still without a hundred. "It's on my mind," he said. "People keep reminding me about the three-figure knock, but I don't want it to prey on my mind. I just want to concentrate on my batting.

"I'm pretty pleased about the way I'm batting right now. It's bit unfortunate that I got only fifty, but I hope I'll be able to convert half-centuries into hundreds during this series."

Sarwan conceded the lack of concentration was the main reason for not having scored a Test hundred. "I'd say it's lack of concentration along with shot-selection," said Sarwan, caught at gully by Wasim Jaffer while driving left-arm seamer Ashish Nehra away from his body.

"I'd have to look at my innings. I seem to be scoring a lot of my runs straight down the wicket and, in the later part of my innings, I start hitting the ball a lot square. I think that is one of the reasons of my downfall."

Sarwan said his team was in a good position to square the series here, but the bowlers would have to work hard for wickets in the second innings. "I think as the days go by the wicket will get easier to bat on. So it'll be challenging for our bowlers," he said.

"It's turning a bit. Harbhajan turned quite a few and [Zaheer] Khan can also play a big part. We're in a good position. There are three more days left and Carl and Shiv did a good job today. We hope to gain a lead of 300 by lunch tomorrow."
