A belligerent left-handed opening batsman from Grenada, Devon Smith was drafted into the West Indies squad ahead of the Test series against India in March 2002, after scoring 750 runs for Windward Islands in the Busta Cup. Smith has a promising pedigree and likes to play his shots. In 2000 he captained the Windwards to victory in the U19 team tournament, and in 2001 he batted England U19 into submission in a three-Test series. He scored his maiden first-class century in Feb 2002, against Barbados.Andrew Miller
