Sehwag out for two weeks
Wisden CricInfo staff - March 4, 2002

NEW DELHI (AFP)
Indian middle-order batsman Virender Sehwag has been ruled out of the ongoing second and final Test against Zimbabwe due to a shoulder injury, a top official said here on Sunday.

"He is not available for the next two weeks because of shoulder injury," Indian cricket board vice-president CK Khanna said in a statement.

Local hero Sehwag, who smashed 74 in the first innings, suffered the injury after attempting a diving catch offered by Grant Flower off legspinner Anil Kumble during the Zimbabwean second innings. India were 36 for 3 in their second innings at stumps on the fourth day at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground, needing 86 more runs to win the match and the two-Test series. The hosts won the opening Test by an innings and 101 runs at Nagpur.

Khanna said Sehwag would be replaced by opener Shiv Sunder Das for the first three matches of the upcoming series of five one-day internationals against the tourists. The first one-dayer will be played on Thursday (March 7) at Faridabad in the northern Indian state of Haryana.
