The dream team
Wisden CricInfo staff - July 22, 2002

On the eve of the Wisden Indian Cricketer of the Century awards, which take place on Tuesday, Wisden spoke to Chandu Borde and Gundappa Viswanath about the Indian greats, past and present. Borde scored 3061 runs in 55 Tests for India. He toured England twice, in 1959 and 1967, and played with and against all the great players of his time – including Fred Trueman, Geoff Boycott, Richie Benaud, Wes Hall and Garry Sobers. Borde scored three Test hundreds against West Indies, Hall and all, and one each against Pakistan and New Zealand. He told Wisden Online his alltime Indian XI.

Viswanath was a true artist with the willow - his strokeplay, particularly his late-cut, was divine. And he was one of cricket's last true gentlemen. He also speaks about some of the players he played with and against.
