A stylish and sensible opening batsman, Hannan Sarkar was introduced to Test cricket as a 19-year-old, replacing the obdurate Javed Omar at the top of the order. One of four new faces for the first Test of the Sri Lankan tour in July 2002, he made an immediate impression with a classy 55. It was the same old story for his team, though: Bangladesh collapsed from 107 for 2 to 161 all out. Andrew Miller
