Wisden overview Not in the XI at Eton, nor a cricket blue at Oxford, Owen Dunell nevertheless became a useful batsman and good fielder. He appeared for South Africa in their first Tests against Major Warton's side in 1888-89, and was their first captain, at Port Elizabeth. South African born, he died in France in 1929.
