Israel selectors finalise squad for European Championships Israel Cricket Association - 10 July 2002
The Israel selection committee has finalised the squad for the European Championships which take place in Belfast, Northern Ireland, starting Friday July 19. The team, captained for the first time by Steven Shein, includes no less than six new caps - wicketkeeper-batsman Steve Leigh, all rounder Herschel Gutman and top order bastman Dani Malyankar, all of Tel Aviv; off spinner Anim Solomon of Lions Lod; Be'er Sheva wicketkeeper Yisrael Ben; and 14-year old Dani Hotz from Ra'anana. Hotz, one of the country's brightest young talents, becomes the first player to graduate from the local youth development programme to full national honours. The team will be managed by Stanley Perlman and accompanied by doctor Dan Kiesel. Naor Gudker will be Israel's representative umpire at the tournament. Squad:
