NEW ZEALAND v SRI LANKA 2000-01
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 2002

At WestpacTrust Stadium, Wellington, February 3 (day/night). Sri Lanka won by three wickets. Toss: New Zealand.
Assuming the pitch would become slower and the bounce lower, New Zealand batted first, but again lost early wickets. They were 48 for three in the 15th over, and then lost the in-form Twose when he damaged his hand, colliding with McMillan. The middle order reorganised around Harris until Zoysa and Fernando claimed four wickets in the last three overs. Chasing 206 from 49 overs (one was deducted for a slow over-rate) Sri Lanka were a modest 82 for four by the 24th. However, crafty batting by de Silva, determined work by Arnold and Zoysa's boundary saw them home with three balls to spare. Arnold made 78 not out in 90 balls, the slow pitch restricting him to four fours and a six. Man of the Match: R. P. Arnold.
