First past 11,000 runs
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 28, 2002

  • Sachin Tendulkar passed 11,000 runs in one-day internationals when he reached 48. He is the first batsman to reach this landmark – Mohammad Azharuddin lies second with 9378 runs. This was the 86th time Tendulkar had passed 50 in ODIs, including 31 centuries (another record).
  • Nick Knight passed 2500 runs in his 69th ODI.

  • England played Marcus Trescothick as wicketkeeper, only the fourth time in 340 ODIs that they have not included a specialist keeper. John Crawley played one match against Sri Lanka at Sydney in 1998-99, while Graeme Fowler played two against Pakistan, at Lahore and Karachi, in 1983-84.

  • Darren Gough was playing in his 99th ODI.
