Mark Mascarenhas dies in crash
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 27, 2002

Mark Mascarenhas, Sachin Tendulkar's manager and chief executive officer of WorldTel, has died in a car crash near the central Indian city of Nagpur. As CEO of WorldTel, Mascarenhas, who was 48, was instrumental in arranging deals which brought millions of dollars into Indian cricket through the sale of television rights during the 1990s. As Tendulkar's manger he was credited with making his client the highest-earning player in the world. In 2001 Tendulkar renewed a five-year deal with WorldTel reputedly worth over $20 million.

"His death is a great personal loss," said Tendulkar.
