Waqar happy with preparations Wisden CricInfo staff - January 8, 2002
DHAKA (Reuters) "The players had a good practice ahead of the first Test," Waqar told reporters at the end of the match. Pakistan and Bangladesh will play two Test matches and three one-day internationals. Waqar said former captain Wasim Akram, who was feeling unwell on arrival in Dhaka, was now fit for the first test. Pakistan declared their first innings at 312 for 3 featuring centuries by Younis Khan (112) and Yousuf Youhana (101) not out. In the second innings, Pakistan declared at 242 for 7 at tea on Monday, an overall lead of 344 runs against Bangladesh A who were out for 210 in the first innings. Shadab Kabir missed his century in the Pakistan second innings by eight runs when he lifted a delivery from spinner Fahim Muntasir to substitute Mohammad Alamgir at long-on. Bangladesh lost three wickets for 53 in their second innings by the close of play. Waqar brought his lower order up for batting practice in the second innings and used batsman like Inzamam-ul-Haq for bowling. Inzamam took the wicket of opener Hannan Sarkar.
