Windies tour 'not off' Wisden CricInfo staff - January 3, 2002
The will-they-won't-they saga of the West Indies tour to Pakistan took another twist when Gregory Shillingford, the chief executive of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), said reports that the trip was off were premature. Over the past week WICB president Wes Hall had said that the West Indies would not tour Pakistan because of the current unrest in the region, even though reports hinted that the players themselves were willing to travel. But Shillingford said that a compromise was still being sought. "We may consider playing matches in the south at venues like Karachi away from the conflict, but not in the north in Peshawar and Rawalpindi," he said. "Our preference is to play at neutral venues."
