India's rotation system
Wisden CricInfo staff - February 26, 2002

NEW DELHI (AFP)
India are planning to introduce a player rotation policy as part of their preparations for next year's World Cup, captain Sourav Ganguly said on Tuesday.

"Yes, that system will start from the one-day series against Zimbabwe," Ganguly told Press Trust of India. "About 20 players will form the nucleus for the World Cup."

India are presently in the midst of a home series against Zimbabwe. The hosts look to wrap up the two-Test series in the match starting on Thursday at New Delhi after winning by an innings and 101 runs at Nagpur on Monday.

A five-match one-day series follows the Tests with the first match scheduled to be held at Faridabad on March 7.

Ganguly, whose batting form as well as fitness has been under scrutiny, agreed with coach John Wright's view that fielding was an area of concern.

"It is not that we are not working on it. I think we fielded quite well against England, but have to be more consistent." Wright on Monday lashed out at his team's fielding despite winning the first Test by a huge margin.
