Vaughan sidelined again
Wisden CricInfo staff - February 24, 2002

Michael Vaughan has been ruled out of the final one-day international at Dunedin tomorrow, after a scan confirmed that he partially dislocated his shoulder during England's 33-run victory at Auckland on Saturday. Although he is not in too much pain, specialists recommended that he rest for 10 to 14 days. Vaughan remains optimistic that he will recover in time for the first Test, which starts at Christchurch on March 13. He is expected to have another scan shortly before the match to assess his fitness.

"Until I had the scan I was trying to be positive and I thought that I might have a chance of playing," Vaughan told the BBC. "Once I spoke to the specialist today he gave me no chance. At least I haven't been ruled out for the rest of the tour or anything like that, and I want to try and get back playing in the next week or so.

"I hope to be playing in the first Test, but I will have to do some rehabilitation first followed by a bit of cricket before I can start thinking about that."
