Wisden CricInfo staff - February 13, 2002
Darren Gough took three wickets in his seventh over and four wickets in 11 balls, in the process returning his best one-day figures against New Zealand. His previous-best were 2 for 29, at Auckland in 1996-97. Gough's 4 for 44 were his best one-day figures since he took 4 for 29 at Bloemfontein in the first match of the Standard Bank tournament in 1999-2000 - 36 games ago.

Earlier Adams took 2 for 25, surpassing the 2 for 33 he took in his last game, the second VB Series final against South Africa at Sydney.
Craig White made his fifth duck in six one-day innings, and in his last 10 ODIs he has scored just seven runs. Starting with the NatWest Series final in 2000, White's run of scores has been: dnb, dnb, 3, 0*, 0, 0, 0, 0, 4 and 0 - seven runs at an average of exactly 1.
