Bangladesh part with Trevor Chappell Wisden CricInfo staff - February 7, 2002
DHAKA (Reuters) "We are not going to renew Chappell's contract," said BCB president Ali Asghar Loby. "We are looking for a new coach preferably from South Asia." Chappell, a former Australian allrounder, was appointed national team coach in March 2001 on a two-year contract, renewable after one year. Bangladesh, beaten comprehensively by Pakistan and New Zealand in recent months, have played 11 Tests since gaining full status in 2000. They have lost 10 of them, nine of which have come within four days. Loby described recent performances as "very dismal", adding that they could not be allowed to continue.
"Now we plan to get a coach from India, Pakistan or Sri Lanka who will be familiar with our social behaviour and environment."
