The bridesmaids
Wisden CricInfo staff - February 3, 2002
Australia failed to qualify for the final of their annual triangular tournament for only the third time in 22 years. They last failed to qualify in 1996-97, when Pakistan and West Indies were their opponents. Their other failure was in the inaugural competition, in 1979-80, when West Indies and England reached the final.
Jacques Kallis made 104 not out, his eighth one-day hundred and his first against Australia. It was Kallis's second one-day century at Perth: he made 111 here against New Zealand in 1997-98.
Brett Lee made 51 not out, his first half-century in one-day internationals. His previous-highest score was 31, against India at Nairobi in 2000-01. This was Lee's 34th one-dayer.
Lee hit 27 runs from Allan Donald's ninth over, equalling the Australian one-day record set by Shaun Pollock against New Zealand on Friday.
