WP to play the Dolphins in Standard Bank Cup final
WPCA Staff - 1 February 2002

Nashua Western Province will play Kwa-Zulu Natal in next Saturday's Standard Bank Cup final at Kingsmead.

WP comprehensively defeated North West by 89 runs at Newlands on Friday evening. Openers Graeme Smith(117) and Lloyd Ferreira(46) gave WP a great start with an opening partnership of 97 before Ferreira was run out. Jonathan Trott and Ashwell Prince weighted in with solid contributions but the night belonged to Graeme Smith. Celebrating his 21st birthday, Smith could not have asked for a better birthday present. His century included 12 fours and won him a record breaking five Man of the Match titles this season.

North West were never in the game and totalled 140 in the innings. They lost their first wicket off Alan Dawson's opening delivery and never recovered. WP play the Dolphins in next Saturday's final in Durban.
